Justice & Princess
Just a hair over two and a half years ago, two adult Shar-Pei dogs were surrendered by their owners to Healdsburg Animal Shelter. It took only a few moments for Princess and Justice (rightfully named) to win the hearts of the shelter staff and bring joy to every Volunteer Dog Walker who ever set foot in our facility.
Here Princess and Justice sat with a week and a half left before Christmas and still without a family to spend the holidays with. A tireless office staff worked day in and day out for two years in order to find a rescue organization and or family for the two loving dogs to go to, and just when hope seemed to slowly fade away, the phone rang at the Healdsburg Animal Shelter. On the phone was a very nice couple from Santa Rosa who happened to notice Princess and Justice on the Healdsburg Animal Shelter's website and immediately fell in love with the pair.
The rest is history because today Princess and Justice are enjoying their second day with their new family and anxiously awaiting the thought of spending Christmas day with their new parents.
What more can I say but thank you to the Healdsburg Animal Shelter staff, who's dedication to care for all animals is what brings me to work every day,, and who could forget the generous couple who brought Princess and Justice into their life's, for that we are grateful to you both!
Happy Holidays!

Healdsburg Animal Control Officer

Lady
Lady, a hound mix, was brought into the Healdsburg Animal Shelter on July 27, 2007. A good Samaritan found her wandering around in the Garrett’s Hardware looking for her owners. When Lady first arrived at our shelter she was very quiet and sad, but as she made friends with the shelter staff she began to settle in and stole all of our hearts. Three days after she arrived, we took her to the vet to get her examined to see if her chubby belly might be full of pups, and it was!!! The next afternoon Lady started acting a little uncomfortable and we set her up in a private room at the shelter so she could start the delivery process. She successfully delivered all 7 puppies and became a wonderful momma dog who was very attentive to her babies. We had a wonderful volunteer named Percy Marie-Lacy who kindly took all eight dogs into her home for two months. Percy makes her home in Santa Rosa, and as a formal Animal Control Officer, stepped right up to give her heart and time as a fabulous foster mom.
Lady who is now named Pearl is enjoying her new life as a pampered pooch with Scott and Chris Silva. Four of the puppies have joined their new homes, two are still looking for homes here at the shelter and little “Lefty” who was the puppy with the heart condition is going to live out his life with Percy who will make him feel incredibly loved and happy.
Mimi
I adopted Mimi on October 22, 2005. I picked her up one day after my birthday and she has been the best present ever! The shelter had a nickname for Mimi…’Scream’n Mimi’. They said it was fitting, as she was the loudest cat of all when she saw the wet food coming. Not too bad for being one of smallest one of the bunch! To this day, she still lives up to her nickname!
I am very thankful to have Mimi, as she has been the light of my life. She is quite feisty but I would not change a thing about her. I thank everyone at the shelter for all they do and for giving me the opportunity to share my life with her.

Ricky 2
He's doing well (except he still sneezes quite a bit) very brave and smart (a Leo), but so tiny...a real trip! Eating well, purring all the time, playing a lot ...and sleeping nites (hooray!)
We love him a lot.
